Malaysia-Kuala Lumpur: National Mosque

Masjid Negara is the Malay name of national mosque, which is the nationwide symbol of Islam. It symbolize the country's unity and multi-cultural harmony and built to commemorate the independence of Malaysia.

The 73 meters minaret which looks like a folded umbrella is the striking feature of the mosque. This design was inspirited by the mosques in India, Turkey and Pakistan.

Another amazing element is the concrete dome, which resembles an open umbrella. The original color of the dome is pink. During the renovation in 1987, the color was changed to green and blue. Unfortunately the dome is under refurbishment on the day I visit.

The following picture the entrance of the mosque.

Introductions of the mosque.

Main entrence to the building. You can visit the mosque only when the pray session is over. But don't forget to take off your shoes before entering.

All the female visitors will be covered with this robes. For male guests, it is better not to ware shot pants or sleeveless shirts.

Some famous persons were buried here.

Huge pillars

This is the main pryer hall of the mosque. But non-muslins do not allow to enter. I take the photo at the entrance of the hall. Reference reported the design of the roof is quite unique, engravings of Quranic verses are in the middle of the roof.
