Malaysia-Kuala Lumpur: Batu Cave

Malaysia is a multicultural society with three major ethnic groups, which are Malay, Chinese and Indian. Batu Cave is the iconic Hindu culture site.

Batu Cave attracts thousands of tourists by its distinctive geological feature. The main temple is built in the limestone cave. It locates 11 kilometers north from Kuala Lumpur city.

The statue of Lord Muruga stand at the bottom of hill is around 40 meters in height. It is the tallest Lord Muruga in the world.

A 272 steps stairway with its angel around 45 degrees lead up to the shrine cave. Some of the local painters sitting along the way to the stairs. They can draw tattoos on your arms and the price is reasonable. A full hand painting is around ten Malaysia ringgits (3 USD).

The painter applies a special ink on your hand. This ink will dry in 10-15 minutes. After teared off the dry coatings,  those remained patterns will last for around one week.

Some medias reported the stairway in Batu Cave ranks top 10 difficult ladders in the world. It do looks hard to climb, but just took me 10 minutes to reach the top.

The main temple in Batu Cave is built 113 years ago. Millions of worshippers and tourists gather here during the three days of Thaipusam festival.

The main cave were discovered in 1892. It is 400 meters long and 100 meter high. Sunlight can come from the top of the cave.

The ecology in Batu Cave is well protected, can you see the rooster in the cave? Haha

Another cave in the limestone hill is Dark Cave. Thousands of bats live here. I didn't visit this cave because it is quite smelly near the entrance.

In Batu Cave, you'll be greeted by lots of monkeys. They will grab food or small stuffs in your hand, it is better to be aware of them.

It is not right for the monkeys to rob people, but I feel a little sad when seeing those monkeys holding the bottled or canned drinks.

They are either tearing up the labels or biting the bottles, how comes this scenario keeps to happen? So gentle reminder for visitors, please kindly put your drinks in your bags.

How to get there?
Take the KTM komuter from KL SENTRAL to BATU CAVES as circled in the following KL railway system.

Malaysia-Kuala Lumpur: PETRONAS Twin Tower (KLCC)

The PETRONAS Twin Tower is a landmark of Malaysia. It locates at the central of Malaysia's capital city Kuala Lumpur. This 88-storey Twin Tower has been acknowledged as the tallest twin building in the wold. The design of this unique architecture is created by renowned architect, Cesar Pelli.

The two towers are connected by a sky bridge at levels 41 and 42. Tourists can visit the linked bridge for free before the renovation in 2013. But now, RM80 is charged for the same tour.

Look up at the bridge

I was walking by or across this awesome twin tower for thousand times because my office is just opposite it, some amazing moments were captured.

This is a morning view from my office, but unluckily that day is a bit cloudy.

A view of the twin tower from KLCC park, which is a public park in the center area of Kuala Lumpur.

This photo was taken from the bottom of one tower. I am really a fun of this metallic tower.

Rainbow sun at the top of the tower.

 Dusk verging into night.

Half light on.

  Night time

Coconut tree and the twin tower, photo taken from the bus station infront of Suria KLCC.

Purple light day, one day only. I don't what the special event is for that day, but we all saw purple towers on that night. It looks awesome.

 New year eve

Lego version of the twin tower, shot from Lego Land, Jahor Baru, Malaysia. All the landmark buildings of Malaysia are made up by lego blocks.

The Petronas Twin Tower also shows on KL monorail ticket.

Music fountain at the behind of KLCC.

There are serval restaurants nearby the fountain. You can easily find a cup of coffee or a glass of bear to enjoy the evening leisure time.

A peaceful lake in the other side of the fountain.

Inside KLCC, there is a five floors shopping mall, including fashion shops, souvenir booths, feature restaurants, cinema, even museum and aquarium. You won't be stuck for ideas on what to do around here.
